10 most beautiful women cricketers in WPL

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) also known as the TATA WPL, is a women’s Twenty20 cricket franchise league in India, owned and operated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The first season, played in March 2023, saw the Mumbai Indians winning the inaugural title. Matches took place in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, with five franchises participating.

The second season, conducted in February and March 2024, resulted in Royal Challengers Bangalore winning the title. Matches were hosted in Bengaluru and Delhi.

Kate Cross

One of the experiences quicks around, Kate Cross was picked by RCB ahead of the 2024 edition of the league for INR 30 lakh. The English pacer made her debut in 2013 and has represented England in 16 T20Is, 59 ODIs and 8 Test matches. Kate took up commentary during the first edition of the league but will now be seen on the field in RCB colours, bringing in all her rich experience with the ball.

Alice Capsey was acquired for INR 75 lakh by the Delhi Capitals at the inaugural WPL auction. Mumbai Indians and the Capitals engaged in a bidding war for the England all-rounder whose base price was 30 lakh, before DC won the bid at 75 lakh. She bats in the top-order for England and possesses a strike rate of 131 in T20Is. She impressed with her all-round efforts in the inaugural edition of the WPL, scoring 159 runs from seven innings at a healthy strike rate of 155.88 and picking up six wickets.

Alice Capsey

A fine fielder, an aggressive batter, and a handy bowler – Harleen Deol embodies the spirit of a true all-rounder, making her a valuable asset to the Gujarat Giants (GG) unit. Acquired for INR 40 lakh in the inaugural WPL auction, the young Indian star possesses the talent and determination to turn the tide of any match. She was retained by the franchise ahead of the second season of WPL.

Dani Wyatt was bought by UP Warriorz for INR 30 Lakh at the TATA WPL 2024 Auction. An aggressive top-order batter, Wyatt brings a wealth of experience, having played over 150 T20Is for England. She has two T20I 100s to her name as well and possesses a strike rate of 127.23. She has been a consistent performer in leagues around the world. A good player of spin, Wyatt would be looking to add solidity to the Warriorz’ batting order and impress in her first WPL season.

Laura Wolvaardt is a right-handed South African batter who plays in the top order. The swashbuckling batter who also captains the national team is known for her eye-catching shots and is in prime form currently. After originally going unsold in the auction in 2023, she was signed by Gujarat Giants as a replacement for captain Beth Mooney. In May 2017, she was named Women’s Newcomer of the Year at CSA’s annual awards.

Alyssa Healy was snapped up for INR 70 lakh by the UP Warriorz at the first-ever WPL auction. Healy is leading a well-balanced Warriorz unit. An explosive batter, Healy can destroy bowling attacks and set the platform in the powerplay. The 32-year-old holds the record for the highest individual scores by a wicket-keeper in T20Is (148 vs SL) and ODIs (170 vs ENG). She also brings her sharp wicket-keeping skills to the table and a wealth of experience. Healy succeeded Meg Lanning as Australia’s full-time captain across all formats in December 2023.

Taniya Bhatia was acquired for INR 30 lakh (base price) by Delhi Capitals at the 2023 WPL auction. The 26-year-old is known for her safe and lightning-fast glovework. The Punjab-born wicketkeeper batter generally bats in the middle-order and brings a lot of experience to the side as well. Taniya is the youngest player to make List-A (13 years and 345 days) and T20 debuts (15 years and 89 days) for Punjab. She’s played over fifty international matches for India and was a part of India’s 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 campaign.

Born on October 13, 2000, Amelia Kerr is an all-rounder from Wellington, New Zealand. Amelia is a right-handed batter and a leg-break bowler. Kerr made her international debut in 2016 and went on to become the youngest cricketer to score a double-century in international cricket, when she was just seventeen years old. Mumbai Indians, who got Kerr for INR 1 Crore. Kerr’s ability to deceive the batters with variations and turn makes her a crucial member of MI’s bowling attack. She had a good outing in the first season, finishing as the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament and also scored 149 runs at a SR of 133.

Born on July 18, 1996, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Smriti Mandhana made her debut for the Indian Cricket Team in 2013 at the age of only 16 years.

The India opener and stylish left-handed batter became the most expensive bid of the inaugural edition of the WPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore went all guns blazing to get Smriti Mandhana for a whopping INR 3.40 Crore. RCB made no hesitations in announcing Mandhana as their captain ahead of the much awaited inaugural season of WPL.

Talented, versatile, extraordinary, and admirable. Ellyse Perry is a superstar of the game and her records across the three formats aptly indicate her successful journey in the sport. Born on November 3, 1990, in Sydney, Ellyse began playing cricket at a young age and made her debut for the Australian cricket team in 2007 at the age of 16. Exceptional with the bat and a timely wicket-taker with the ball, Perry truly represents a complete cricketer and a trusted asset of the squad.

Perry joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 1.70 Crore alongside cricketing stars like skipper Smriti Mandhana and English all-rounder Heather Knight. RCB will be hoping for the Australian all-rounder to replicate her successful performances in the past and come out all guns blazing.
